Inside Voices founding members I.K. David and Paul Burghard met playing open mic nights in Washington. Connected by a mutual love of guitar-heavy, riff-driven Indie Rock and smooth R&B sounds, the two quickly crafted a repertoire of original music emulating their favorite styles.

Inside Voices’ music blends I.K.’s R&B-inspired chords, lush vocal harmonies, and melancholic lyricism with Paul’s energetic and grungy percussion. Last year, the band welcomed bassist Paul Wevers and lead guitarist Lew Calico who add to the music with groovy basslines and glistening guitar melodies. Since then, the Indie quartet has played several D.C.-area venues including Quarry House Tavern, the Pocket, and Pie Shop.

Inside Voices is preparing to release their first single, Such a Shame, which will be out on all major streaming platforms this Summer.

\--Cecil & Delilah are 6 friends making harmony laden folk-rock and dreaming of eco-socialism.

\--Out of the ashes of local pop band Index comes the nü group Static Spray. Joining the Leddy brothers (Graeme, vocals and guitar, and Nyle, guitar) in this new venture is local legend and multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire Ben Melrod on drums and bedroom pop weirdo Sebastian Rodriguez on bass. The band blends their influences of local 90s hardcore and glazes it with indie-pop, while adding a hefty dollop of krautrock to make sure that the sound you hear is familiar but undeniably unique.

Radiator Hospital is an outlet for the highly romantic and often noisy punk-bred pop songs of Michigan songwriter Sam Cook-Parrott. Inspired as much by the home-recording aesthetic and acoustic guitar twee punk of the K Records scene built around its more voluminous sects of full-band power pop, the first Radiator Hospital cassette materialized in 2010; Cook-Parrott recorded all the instruments himself. By the time he moved to Philadelphia, signed with Salinas Records, and issued Radiator Hospital's official full-length debut, Something Wild, in 2013, he had recording assistance from friends in the Philly lo-fi scene and had put together a band. Continuing to mix stripped-down guitar songs with more vitalized, full-band arrangements, he recorded his fourth long-player, Sings Music for Daydreaming, entirely by himself for the first time since leaving Michigan.

Kym Register + Meltdown Rodeo (formerly LOAMLANDS) is a transgressive and distorted country music outfit based in North Carolina that places queer storytelling at the forefront. Their music intimately grapples with identity, retribution, reconciliation and queer existence in both modern-day and historical (inclusive of mostly all) southern culture. According to NOISEY, our music is “written to directly address North Carolina, the people in the Durham DIY scene, and the area's long history with LGBT communities and police violence, the themes Register… wrestle\[s\] with throughout—queerness, police violence, bigotry and general intolerance to those who refuse to adhere to any kind of binary—are poignant no matter where you live.”

Tami Hart’s music career began while still a high school student in South Carolina, when she was signed to Mr. Lady Records, and toured as a supporting act for Le Tigre. At age 18, Hart’s debut album, No Light in August, was described in the NY Times by Ann Powers as being one of the best albums of 2000. During that time, Hart toured in support of Sleater-Kinney, Indigo Girls, The Butchies and many more. Hart moved to San Francisco, forming the post punk band GangWay! (Featuring members of the band No Age). Following a move to NYC, Hart formed two more bands, Winning Looks, recorded by Kathleen Hanna. Hart also formed the Punk meets RnB duo Making Friendz, who’s album Social Life received several notable licensing placements (Last Bummer Records). In 2011, Hart joined the band MEN featuring prominent artist JD Samson of Le Tigre fame. Tami Hart has recently resurfaced as a solo artist, releasing a collection of old and new demos on the Seattle imprint Disc Drive will be releasing her next EP, Thanks For Saying Hi digitally on Cruisin Records.

Just as the city’s halcyon days of the ‘80s punk scene saw a variety of projects sprout up from the same pool of musicians, the DC area has a current contingent of permanent residents who continue that lineage of interconnectedness in their mission to create exhilarating, introspective, and forward-thinking rock. In that sense, Burial Waves is a quintessential DC/Baltimore band. Featuring members of Black Clouds, Pianos Become the Teeth, Caverns, and The Effects; Burial Waves are their own sonic entity. You can certainly hear not only their individual pedigrees, but the history of their hometown in their collective output. They are an amalgam of amp-worshipping heaviness and synesthesia-inducing space rock with a slight edge of cathartic recklessness. Their sound is so rich and multi-dimensional that the experience of soaking in their songs on headphones is nearly as rewarding as feeling the thump of a kick drum on massive PA speakers. But much as the previous generation rethought their strategies in the wake of recurring violence at shows, so has Burial Waves reimagined the way they present their music in an age where the stage isn’t an option. Teaming up with the similarly visionary label Dark Operative, Burial Waves are forgoing the standard album cycle and instead releasing individual songs in a variety of formats. Music that can make you feel like you’re back in that dark, tightly packed room with the speakers pushing the air and the energy into the crowd.

There are few trajectories in Australian music more remarkable than that of Cub Sport. Since they emerged as a promising young indie band in the early-2010s, the Meanjin (Brisbane) four-piece, comprised of Tim Nelson, Sam Netterfield, Zoe Davis and Dan Puusaari, have become known for their powerful, must-see live show and their ardent fanbase, as well as ARIA Platinum- and Gold-certified singles like "Come On Mess Me Up," "Chasin" and "Sometimes." Austin-based indie psychedelic band The Bright Light Social Hour kick off spring with new single “Not New” announced alongside news of tour dates and a new album, Emergency Leisure, coming August 2 via Escondido Sound. Founded by Jackie O’Brien (bass/vocals) and Curtis Roush (guitar/vocals) – and newly joined by Mia Carruthers (keys/vocals), Zac Catanzaro (drums) and Juan Alfredo Ríos (percussion) – the band's latest single showcases the sound of the forthcoming project, melding Texas trippiness with irresistible disco-punk groove. There’s an equally lysergic music video accompanying the track, in vintage Bright Light Social Hour style.

"In 2019 we did a tour we didn’t realize would be our last. At least for TBLSH as we knew it. Emergency Leisure is a fictional autobiography from this period, centered on a seminal, hedonistic night at Bar L’Escogriffe in Montreal - our own Tropic of Cancer of sorts. “Not New” kicks off the odyssey, a new beginning in our Fool’s Journey.
