Dice HQ

Meet Prav, Head of Product

Words by DICE

What did you do before DICE?

Before I joined DICE, I worked for a music analytics company called Semetric, which was acquired by Apple a few months after I left – wild! When I was there, I was a Data Curation and Support Manager.

What's the best thing about working here?

During lockdown, my partner has remarked that he often hears me laughing during meetings, or sometimes talking about ‘silly’ things as well as work, and it was making him jealous. I think DICE nails that balance; we get on with the work and are collaborative and productive, but we’re also encouraged to get to know each other and enjoy each other’s company.

What project are you most proud of?

The work we’ve done to launch and then improve the streaming experience for fans is amazing. We have had so many messages from people who have said that a stream has been the highlight of their week, or that they live in the countryside so usually find it hard to go to IRL gigs. Streams have allowed them to immerse themselves in their fandom.

What was your first gig, last gig and favourite gig?

My first gig was Wheatus with my dad when I was 12 years old. The second gig I ever went to was also Wheatus. I was a huge fan and was desperate to be a Teenage Dirtbag. Pretty tragic, really.

The last gig I went to was Big Thief at Eventim Apollo, London, and it was majestic and soul soothing and I obviously cried. Any opportunity you have to go see Big Thief you should take. They are always brilliant.

I dislike this last question – favourite gig – because there are too many good gigs and my answer will change depending on my mood. Right now, my answer would be Vampire Weekend at Islington Assembly Hall back in 2019. They played the hits. I was there with a group of good friends and it was a small venue, so the whole crowd felt happy and excited to be there.
