How Pi’erre Bourne found more fans with DICE

With DICE’s Waiting List feature, selling out events has never been easier: Pi’erre Bourne and Öctöpus proved this in Paris.

A rising star

American artist and producer Pi’erre Bourne is one of the most acclaimed hip-hop producers of the last five years. After producing a few hit singles including Playboi Carti’s ‘Magnolia’, he released his debut album The Life of Pi’erre 4 in 2019. The following February, he was ready to tour Europe and share the album with his international fans. 

Pi’erre was headed to Paris for an event at 1999 in February. The venue had 170 tickets on sale and fans were desperate to get hold of them: the event sold out quickly and more than 400 fans joined the Waiting List. It was clear there was demand for another date, so we worked to secure another opportunity for Pi’erre to perform.

Calling up the network

French promoter Öctöpus is known for bringing incredible artists to Paris from around the globe. They put on more than 200 events a year, and they’ve got their finger on the pulse of hip-hop and grime. Having hosted prominent artists including Dave, Stormzy and Rejjie Snow, they were keen to work with Pi’erre Bourne.

As a DICE partner, Öctöpus were well aware of the potential to sell out an additional night. Cyril Bahsief, Co-director of ‘Öctöpus, noted that “the app helps us to anticipate new audiences, open more shows and be more reactive”. Moving quickly, they secured a second night for Pi’erre at Parisian club Badaboum. An additional 410 tickets went on sale for a second event and all of the fans who’d joined the Waiting List were informed, giving them a chance to see the artist they love.

Making the most of an opportunity

The day before the originally planned event, Pi’erre played at Badaboum for a crowd of 410 delighted fans. At double the capacity of 1999, this represented a great win for Pi’erre and Öctöpus. Using DICE’s data, they had been able to identify a guaranteed sellout show and make it happen within just a few days.

Bahsief went on to speak about Öctöpus’s experience with DICE: “I was waiting for DICE to come to the French market! I knew it before it was launched in France. DICE has a reputation for giving promoters and venues more power over their events and helping them to sell tickets. Plus, it’s easy to use and has a great visual statement.”
