**Father Koi**

Born and raised in New York City, Kara Lu started writing music at age 17, but didn't officially take on the name of Father Koi until the indie-pop release of "Halloween Dancer" in 2019. Since then, she has ventured into experimenting with different sounds and working with various producers (as well as producing herself) to create a variety of sounds and genres to segue into the electropop/alternative genre, but never deviating from her trademark honest and stripped-down lyrics.

Classically trained in piano since age 6, Kara picked up the guitar and bass in 2016 and later started singing in 2019 with the conception of Father Koi. Since then, her work has been featured in five Spotify official playlists and she has been a guest of the SUNY Purchase Culture Shock Festival.
