Willem McCormick is a native of New Orleans and has always had a passion for music. After years of playing music on the Gulf Coast he switched gears and eventually ended up on the West Coast in Redondo Beach's Southbay with his duo/band Willem & Dakota. He found peace and clarity near the ocean writing songs that combined jangly guitar hooks with a rural and jamming vibe. The music McCormick and his Southbay based bandmates create has been compared to artists such as early R.E.M. , Twen, Matthew Sweet and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.
