Plinio Fernandes

**Plínio Fernandes** is a young Brazilian classical guitarist from São Paulo, who graduated from Royal Academy of Music in 2020, and we are excited to welcome him to **Bold Tendencies** for the first time. The guitar is central to the Brazilian folk tradition and Plínio takes inspiration from a long line of great artists - Antônio Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Jacob do Bandolim, Violeta Parra, Edu Lobo, Cartola and Laurindo Almeida, some of whose music he will perform in this special programme: “I chose songs that I grew up listening to, and in many cases I fell in love with the guitar through them.” Recently signed to Decca Records, New York, his debut album Saudade will be released in 2022 and this is one of his first ever solo concerts.
