It's Charles Mingus's centennial year and though he’s known for being a bassist, one of his most compelling albums is <i>Mingus Play Piano</i>. Just him soloing on piano, creating titles like "Myself When I'm Real." Piano virtuoso Jamael Dean is doing a rare solo show playing homage to Mingus. The legacy of jazz music in LA demands it, and it should not be missed as Jamael rarely offers solo shows.
