It’s not easy to marry two vastly different (yet equally spiritual) genres, but London’s House Gospel Choir does so in an empowering rush of Black-centric dance music. Inspired by the south London Pentecostal churches she sang in and the underground raves she danced in, Natalie Maddix formed the now 150-strong ensemble in 2014. Ever since, they’ve reimagined dancefloor classics on RE//CHOIRED (2020), collaborated with chart toppers Oliver Heldens and Rudimental, and performed their vibrant sets at KOKO and on Glastonbury’s Acoustic Stage.
