Russian Circles bautizaron como ‘Guidance’ a su disco de 2016 en referencia a la incertidumbre sobre el futuro, un título apropiado para aquellos días - unos meses antes de las tumultuosas elecciones presidenciales americanas – pero en realidad era más una referencia a la falta de planes mientras se adentraban en su segunda década como grupo que un comentario social. Si había una reflexión acerca de su dirección como formación musical o dudas individuales sobre seguir faenando como artistas underground, los 3 años de implacables giras de presentación del disco sirvieron para reforzar el esfuerzo hercúleo de los 3 miembros del grupo. Con su nuevo ‘Blood Year’, Russian Circles abandonan las encruzijadas sonicas de discos como ‘Guidance’ y ‘Memorial’ para ofrecer la colección de canciones más directa y poderosa de su carrera.

Eyehategod es el sonido feroz y lleno de bilis de la América sin retorno. Desde su formación en 1988, han sido la banda sonora para la masa en problemas. Música fea para tiempos feos. Ese es el sentido del desencanto y la enfermedad del que parte su sexto LP,  “A History of Nomadic Behavior”, editado en Marzo por Century Media. Si estás familiariado con su historia ya sabes que esto es música de supervivientes, un sonido en si mismo donde los riffs sabbathianos te atizan con una ira caústica que va mucho más allá del punk.
Reducidos a cuarteto y tras haber abierto en tiempos recientes para Black Label Society, Corrosion of Conformity y Napalm Death, la banda más esencial del sludge sureño está muy lejos de calmarse o suavizarse. De hecho, es casi lo contrario. Escucharles sigue desorientando e incomodando como el primer día: música que duele.

In 2022, Desertfest will be celebrating a decade since its inception. Returning to the hallowed grounds of Camden with our biggest, most diverse line-up to date. Losing two editions of the festival to Covid-19 restrictions, Desertfest makes its comeback by adding a monumental second day at the prestigious Roundhouse, alongside the first ever stage at the newly-named PowerHaus.

Welcoming back the likes of WITCHCRAFT, who will play their first & only UK performance in over a decade, stoner rock icons LOWRIDER, a UK debut from KHEMMIS & an exclusive performance from SOMALI YACHT CLUB, plus more from the ‘Year That Never Was’ 2020 line-up. Desertfest will also be celebrating its roots with CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, ORANGE GOBLIN and TRUCKFIGHTERS, who all played the inaugural event in 2012, making a 10-year return.

Saturday night’s Roundhouse stage will showcase the diversity and progression of Desertfest, as an all-encompassing celebration of heavy music. We are honoured to host an exclusive UK performance from noise-rock legends SHELLAC (Steve Albini, Bob Weston, Todd Trainer). Joined by PISSED JEANS, ELDER, PART CHIMP & ELEPHANT TREE.

The word ‘Doom’ encapsulated at its most terrifyingly loud, ELECTRIC WIZARD make their long-awaited return to Desertfest. The earth-shattering sounds of YOB, EYEHATEGOD, THE OBSESSED and CONAN will solidify this as a line-up for the history books. PowerHaus will welcome GNOD, HEY COLLOSUS and SLIFT, whilst The Underworld makes way for the storming sounds of INTEGRITY, GREEN LUNG, SWITCHBLADE, HUNTSMEN, plus more. 

Elsewhere across the festival we’ll be welcoming EARTHLESS, Brant Bjork & Nick Oliveri’s new project STONER, the UK debut from SPIRIT ADRIFT on a devilishly heavy metal Black Heart stage. Plus, psychedelic sounds from SACRI MONTI, unearthly visions from Japan’s BLACKLAB, the return of stoner rockers JOSIAH and three stages at The Dev showcasing the very best of the underground scene. With over 75 bands across the weekend, Desertfest is set to scratch every single itch as we welcome the riff-loving masses back to their spiritual home.
