The unkillable Mark Morgan (Sightings, Rump State, et al) takes to the mic in Macomb Country Brutes, a self-styled techno band with “yet another Detroit dude” Stallone the Reducer. As with all things Mark, it pays to take notice.

NY underground filmmaker Miles Pflanz performs as 86 Music. We must only assume Pflanz’s sound is in strict concordance with his trashy, sexy vision.

**M. Maria**  
To create her self-described “demented pop,” she layers heavy industrial elements with accessible pop hooks that draw the listener in. Its otherworldliness is further emphasized by her haunting vocals, so dynamic as to be considered an instrument itself. Borrowing the textural melancholy of Boards of Canada, the hazy and warped chordal work of My Bloody Valentine, and the cut-up concepts of experimental pioneer Brion Gysin, M. Maria blends and updates these sonic facets for a 21st-century crowd disillusioned by the existential weariness of our times.
