Formed of producer Nicolas Jaar and his tour guitarist David Harrington, DARKSIDE creates a heady blend of psychedelia, art rock, house and ambient techno. Their self-titled debut contained three slow, hypnotic and untitled grooves featuring slivers of Jaar’s falsetto and Harrington’s bluesy guitar streaking through it. Live, they use SFX, both auditory and visual, to complement their sound.

En 2011, Clown & Sunset, (feu) label du producteur chilien Nicolas Jaar, éditait un disque mystérieusement signé DARKSIDE. Très vite, les trois morceaux down tempo intriguent par leur influence pink-floydiesque, jusque dans le nom de l'EP en guise de clin d'œil à peine dissimulé. Deux ans plus tard, la messe est dite : le projet DARKSIDE est en fait une collaboration entre Jaar lui-même et le multi-instrumentiste américain Dave Harrington, annoncée comme éphémère et incarnée par un album aujourd’hui devenu légendaire : PSYCHIC. L'œuvre mélange habilement les guitares psychédéliques d’Harrington avec les voix et rythmiques organiques de Jaar, et l’hypnose est totale en live lors des nombreux concerts qui suivent sa sortie.

Puis en 2014, et comme annoncé depuis sa genèse, DARKSIDE s’éteint.

Et pourtant, durant la pandémie, alors que la planète est confinée, la sortie digitale de l’un des concerts du groupe fera office de préambule à une résurrection. Le projet renaît de ses cendres avec SPIRAL. Après plusieurs années à produire chacun de leur côté via leurs projets respectifs (Against All Logic, Dave Harrington Group…), Jaar et Harrington se sont retrouvés à l’été 2018 dans une maison isolée du monde, avec pour seul objectif de composer une chanson par jour. Six morceaux qui deviendront donc l’ossature de ce deuxième opus.

En 2023, DARKSIDE repartait sur les routes, cette fois en trio avec le percussionniste Tlacael Esparza comme membre permanent, pour une tournée à guichets fermés, s’arrêtant fréquemment en résidence plusieurs jours de suite au même endroit, pour développer un live qui n’est jamais identique d’un soir sur l’autre, comme ce fut le cas au festival Nuits sonores à Lyon, au Trianon à Paris ou au Koko à Londres l’année passée. Rendez-vous est pris le 3 novembre 2024 à l’Olympia pour une nouvelle expérience live unique.

Interdit aux personnes de moins de 16 ans non accompagnées d’une personne majeure et ce sans remboursement possible.  Seules les personnes mineures âgées de 14 à 16ans, pourront accéder à la salle à condition de fournir une autorisation parentale.
