A versatile technical and progressive death metal band from San Francisco, Fallujah have continued to evolve musically, establishing a shining reputation in metal circles as one of the more inventive acts to emerge from the area since Metallica. Appearing in 2007 with a sound that hewed closer to traditional deathcore and grind, Fallujah's style grew increasingly complex, with wide-ranging albums like The Flesh Prevails (2014), Undying Light (2019), and Empyrean (2022) leaning harder into the group's more progressive tendencies.
Hailing from the remote island of Tasmania, Psycroptic have progressively carved a niche of their own within today's overcrowded metal scene. Staying clear of trends, Psycroptic incorporate many elements of music – extreme and otherwise - to capture a sound that is uniquely their own: a precise blend of brutality, intensity and groove.
US progressive metal band Interloper are gaining attention worldwide with a debut album that combines stellar musicianship with tight song writing and a mixture of musical styles. The new album, Search Party, has an excellent pace with different arrangements that ebb and flow between moments of intense energy juxtaposed with more sparse musical interludes. It creates an interesting musical dynamic that fans of Opeth in their heavier earlier days will likely appreciate and also demonstrates a musical maturity in approach.
